The Seven Levels of Intimacy-Chapter Five

The Seven Levels Of Intimacy- a self-help book
By. Matthew Kelly

CHAPTER FIVE
p. 100-102

While I was writing this book, a young man approached me after one of my seminars to seek my counsel. He was twenty-seven years old; he worked hard,
loved his wife and was faithful to her, and had three wonderful children whom he loved very much. Two weeks earlier, his wife had told him that she wanted a divorce.

When he asked her why, she told him that she didn’t love him anymore. He asked her whether there was someone else, and she said there wasn’t. Then he asked her whether it was something he had done, and she told him that it wasn’t his fault, that he was a good father and a good husband, but that she just didn’t love him anymore. It’s a sad situation, and a common one.

Love is not a feeling. From when we are very young, through powerful mediums such as movies and music, we are conditioned to believe that it is. The result
of this conditioning is that we allow our actions to be dictated by our feelings. Rather than asking ourselves whether a particular person is going to help us become our best self, we simply allow our feelings to take us wherever they will at any particular moment. And I don’t know whether you’ve noticed it, but feelings are one of the most inconsistent aspects of human person. (<- how true is that)

Love is a choice, not a feeling. Feelings comes and go, and if we choose to base our most important relationships on how we feel at any particular moment,
we are in for a rough and rocky journey. Love is verb, not a noun. Love is something we do, not something that happens to us.

Stephen Covey tells a great story. On this particular day he had been presenting a series of talks about pro-activity: the idea that as human beings
we are responsible for our lives. Our behavior is a function of our decisions, not our conditions. We can subordinate feelings to values. We have the initiative and the responsibility to make things happen.

After his presentation, Covey was approached by a man who said, “Stephen, I like what you’re saying. But every situation is so different. Look at my marriage. I am really worried. My wife and I just don’t have the same feeling for each other we used to have. I guess I just don’t love her anymore and she doesn’t
love me. What can I do?”

“The feeling isn’t there anymore?” Covey asked.
“That’s right” the man reaffirmed. “And we have three children whom we’re really concerned about. What do you suggest?”
“Love her,” Covey replied.
“You don’t understand. The feeling of love just isn’t there.”
“Then love her. If the feeling isn’t there, that’s a good reason to love her.”
“But how do you love when you don’t love?”
“My friend, ‘love’ is a verb. Love –the feeling — is the fruit of love, the verb. So love her.”

greetings from the H lab :)

hi! :D
im in third right now (civics with jacks)

i hate this keyboard.
wheee they didn’t block wordpress!
alright bye :)

My 18th birthday :)

today’s my birthday and im finally legal :D
I don’t feel 18, nor do I feel older but I do feel extra special and loved by so many wonderful friends!
Thank you for making my 18th birthday absolutely amazing and unforgettable!

On saturday, peter and i celebrated my birthday with his family! We went to laguna hills and ate dinner at this small italian restaurant. i reallly enjoyed the food and just spending time with him doing so many things I don’t usually do! As a celebration of my “last few days of childhood” we went shopping and he pushed me in the shopping cart! I haven’t sat in the shopping cart for about 10 years :) whee! I have the video recording on my phone :P Then at night, while I was watching T.V., his sister came to turn off the lights and a few minutes later, peter came in singing happy birthday and holding a cake with a candle on it and cream puffs on the sidee! I was really surprised and I thought it was so sweet since no one has actually ever done that for me and it’s like one of those movie moments where you go “aww.” So yes, I felt like I was in a movie :D Thank you so much! For remembering that I loveee chocolate, that I loveee ice cream cake and that my parents never buy me ice cream cake ever for my birthday because they think winter is not the time for ice cream (the only other ice cream cake I got was from cindy and janet for my 17th birthday!)!! Thank you so much for even getting me cream puffs! You’re the best! I’m sorry I don’t have pictures for saturday :(

blowfish face!
i think this is cute. we took this at church :)
haha. i like this picture alot (cause i think i look pretty in it and i think he looks…funny in a cute way of course :D )
and hello, there randy sun! peeping out from back!

my cousin, winnie thinks we look alike.
do we look alike?
maybe our smiles and how our eyes disappear/wrinkle up!
keep on smiling, darling! smiling is healthy!

So sunday, after church, we headed over to BJs for lunch :)
Thank you to all who came!
Thank you Cindy, Janet, Peter, Michelle, Ashley, Eunice, Randy, Jason, Sharon, Thomas, Travis and Jordan!
Had two bowls of clam chowder and cajun pasta. I shared with pumo but I was somehow so full :)
And thank you for the pizookie surprise! It was really good :)

When Cindy, Janet, Michelle, Randy, Ashley and Eunice came in with this, I couldn’t believe it.
I thought it was a cake or something in a coach bag :) haha.
But wow! I’ve never even touched a coach bag before.
Yummy!
I shall keep this bag safe!

The coach box :)
Ta da!
I love the plaid and the colors. It’s so cute.
Okay, this box will be kept safe, too.
I shall not ruin this!

Okay, so coach even gives out a little folder for the gift receipt.
I think i’m weird.
I’m going to keep the gift receipt inside the thing, too.

Coach tissue paper and a coach sticker.
I shall keep this too.

sadly, i ripped this beautiful tissue paper :(
it’s okay! it’s still coach ;) haha
okay drum roll please. we’re getting really close to the actual present!
*holds in breath*

you still cant really see it yet.
drum roll continue please.. :)

OH MY COACH :)
!!
okay, isn’t this the aboslutely cutest bag ever?
look at the design! I love it! It just came out :) It’s new~
and it’s one of the unique colorful designs!
i think this bag is so me :)
so many colorful colors. I love colorful things.
And plaid. I like plaid, polka dots and everything.
Thank you, you guys! Seriously, I don’t think anyone could have picked out a better bag for me :)
And I love the fact that this bag is tiny.
I don’t think big coach bags look that great.
And for this kind of design, I think it looks best small :)
thank you Cinno, Juno, Ashley, Euno, gnomie and randy!

Thank you Jason and sharon for this letter!
i think this is sooo creative and cute!
Andyou know, i think pigs are now my favorite animals :)
I’ve been getting alot of pig things and I think I kind of look like a pig :)
A round face and small eyes! :D
Jason and sharon also got me this:

I think the depictions of all the animals are really adorable haha :)
And the fact that they stuffed the inside of this pouch with hershey kisses is super creative.
…hrmm kisses are my favorite chocolate too :)
anyways, i think im going to use this bag and put all my choir makeup in there then I don’t have to carry around separate things cause my current choir makeup bag is so small.
It’s like the perfect timing too because just a few days ago, I saw janet’s makeup bag and i was telling myself that I needed to get a bigger bag and wah-la! It’s like jason and sharon read my mind or something!
thank you!

See’s!
I remember last time I got a box of see’s this big and my dad took it away from me :( haha so I never got to taste see’s until pumo bought me see’s for winter.
But i’m so excited! I plan to hide this in my room and eat it :)
There’s nothing like chocolate in bed with a good book!
Chocolate is a girl’s best friend. More than diamonds :) Cause unlike diamonds, chocolate is edible. anthing edible is always better than anything flashy :)
gotta satisfy my tummy!
double the chocolate!
hershey kisses and see’s :)
oh boy, i’m gonna be one fat happy sumo wrestler :)
thank you travis!!

Thank you christine for this!
okay so for those of you who don’t know…actually, i’m not sure who knows..
but my mom doesn’t buy cups or glasses anymore cause for some reason, they always break.
So i’m constantly drinking out of a bowl..those small chinese bowls and then they can barely fill up anything to drink so after a few gulps, i’m done :(
but now i have my own cup!
:) And it’s not just any plain glass. I don’t think you can see but there are pandas on it. (haha michael chang, you jealous?)
I think Leo and I are gonna split this :) we can have matching cups!yayyyy!
cheers!

:)
anyways today (monday) i washed my blue, plaid flats in the washing machine. bad idea.
it totally got ruined. the sole tore apart. :(
those were my favorite flats too!
they were plaid and cute and T__T
it’s okay. summer’s almost here. time for flip flops :)

valentines day+5 months!

For valentines day, i made him flowers and on each flower petal, i wrote why i liked him :)
and on one petal, i wrote “he loves, he loves me not, he loves me and i love him too!”

and he came to my house to drop of a microphone so we could talk on ventrilo :D andd he bought me this super cutee pig!
i think it looks like me :D
seee?! the face is rounddd and the eyes areee smalll :)

:D awwww

for five months, i made him a movie and this bouquet :) they’re fake haha. but pretty and cute.

-went to seaworld next day and saw shamu!-got a horrible flat tan!

diamond bar competition:

it was such a close competition. 2 points away from 2nd place. 4 points away from first! RAWR :(

What my mommy did to my ear sounds scary so if you want to know, ask me.

Orange Hills Restaurant

A month ago, my dad and I booked a reservation at Orange Hills in Orange County to celebrate my mom’s 46th  birthday :)
Since we’ve never really done “fine dining” or been to any fancy restaurant, we decided to give it a shot since she’s always coo-ing over the ones in the movies.

Orange hills was really nice. I really enjoyed it. You could see the restaurant from about five miles away. It’s situated ontop of a hill, with pretty lights surrounding it. Valet parking, waitors in tuxes, dim lights, perfect place for a couple..not so much a family but that’s okay. My mom enjoyed it :)

The place looks nice in the pictures but it’s nowhere near how it looked in real life.
We had a window seat so I could see the balcony and all the bonfire places on the balcony and all of orange county and LA  lit up :)

Here’s the website if any of you are interested :) http://www.theorangehillrestaurant.com/
the place exceeded my expectations.
really, the view is amazing :)

driving up orange hills. lights. pretty :)

family in the garden. (entrance to the restaurant)
yes, it’s a super dark picture but i was trying to get the feel of the lights

me. i look gross. pretty background :)

prettty :)

the inside of the restaurant.

view from the top of the hill through the window (i was sitting right here.)

pretty!

for dinner, we ordered one bowl of french onion soup, a plate of caesar salad, and for main dishes: seasonal salmon, filet mignon, duo of lamb.

filet mignon. sorry, it’s dark.
the wine sauce was very yummy :)

duo of lamb avec haricots verts (french for string beans)
some of the food names were in french.
so its a plus that i know the names :)

seasonal salmon.
its a dark blob in the picture -__-

out in the balcony. here’s the bonfire place!

more garden

that’s it :)
that’s the end of my lovely adventure at orange hills.

if you really want to do something once in a life time&forever memorable, i definitely recommend it!
but if you’re hungry and are looking for food, then go to in-n-out!
